Sven Ivar Dysthe
Sven Ivar Dysthe is today one of Norway's most known furniture-designers. After taken his advanced craft certificate in cabinet making in Oslo, he went to London to study industrial design at The Royal College of Art where he got his master Degree in 1953.
After an international breakthrough in the early sixties, he opened his own design studio in Oslo where he has worked as a freelance designer ever since. He has won several furniture competitions and received a number of national and international prizes. His works are purchased by several Nordic Industrial Art- museums, and by Victoria and Albert museum in London.
Sven Ivar Dysthe is first and foremost honored for his ability to find simple solutions to complex challenges with logic elegance. As he often says:"When you look at my work and think "yes of course" - then I have obtained what I wanted."
